On behalf of Healthy Mind Menu, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous support and participation in our 4th Annual Plating for a Purpose fundraising dinner. Held on October 28, 2024, at the stunning Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, this year’s event was a heartening reminder of the power of community and collaboration. With your support, we welcomed 180 guests and raised an incredible $89,000 to advance our mission of promoting mental health and wellbeing within Western Australia’s hospitality industry.
We are incredibly grateful to our support partners, including our major sponsor Proto Design & Project Services, our corporate partner Australian Hotels Association WA, and our gold sponsors Pioneer Credit, Tajuria Holdings, and Hospitality Total Services. Your backing made this event possible and fuels our mission for a healthier hospitality industry.
A Cause with Impact
The funds raised will go directly towards launching a groundbreaking initiative: Australia’s first-ever Toolkit for Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing specifically designed for WA’s hospitality workers. Developed in collaboration with Edith Cowan University (ECU), this two-year project will produce a comprehensive, research-backed online learning resource, accessible to all hospitality workers for free. This toolkit will offer essential mental health resources and strategies, equipping hospitality staff with tools for resilience and wellbeing.
A Stellar Culinary Line-Up
The evening was elevated by the talents of our amazing chefs, who crafted an exquisite dining experience:
- Dario Pompucci (Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club)
- Leigh Power (Papi Katsu & Shui)
- Todd Stuart (Twenty Seats)
- Brian Cole (Hearth Restaurant)
- Shane Middleton (Papi Katsu)
- And our dedicated chef coordinator and HMM board member, Stephen Clarke
To add a special touch, Jerry Fraser, Perth’s celebrated oyster shucker, delighted guests with fresh oysters throughout the evening, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.
To highlight the incredible talent behind the dishes, we also launched a Self-Portrait Series—a unique, artistic insight into each chef’s journey, inspirations, and personal connection to the hospitality industry. This series offers a deeper look into the lives and creativity of our participating chefs, making their contributions to Plating for a Purpose even more meaningful.
Learn more about each chef and explore their self-portraits in this series to see the faces and stories behind the remarkable dishes crafted for this special night. Their passion and dedication truly bring our vision to life.
A Vision for a Healthier Hospitality Community
With these funds, Healthy Mind Menu can move forward in creating a supportive and stigma-free environment within hospitality. This industry, often marked by long hours and high stress, deserves resources that promote the mental health and wellbeing of its workers. This new toolkit will be a significant step towards realizing that vision, offering education, resources, and support designed specifically for the unique challenges faced by hospitality workers.
Looking Ahead
We hope you’ll consider joining us again next year as we continue this important work. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for all who work in hospitality.
